What Do They Do?
Munch woo crowds at over 100 events a year, often providing the ‘first dance’ for happy couples, or tailoring sets to suit their audience. They also play at private and corporate parties, festivals and charity events – in fact almost anywhere! They know how to make your party an event to remember.
What Have They Done Before?
Munch have been getting parties jumping all over the UK and Europe since the late 90’s. They have played in front of such diverse audiences as the Royal Court Theatre and Labour Party Conference, to football stadiums, charity auctions and 1000’s of private events.
Drummer, Jody, played in one of John Peels favourite bands call The Squad, featuring Terry Hall, now from The Specials fame. He has toured with The Clash and has recorded on several albums, the latest being with Michael Deakin. Mike, lead singer, was taught to play guitar by The La’s guitarist in the late 80’s. He writes and records his own music as well as performing as a session musician on countless studio recordings. Nik Ewen, guitarist, is a studio owner and producer who has worked with The Farm, Tom Robinson, and The Shamen. He’s performed at countless venues from Glastonbury to the Royal Albert Hall!
The last decade has seen the band perform all over the UK from John O’ Groats to Lands End, and further affield from Holland to Tunisia, Ireland to the Isle of Mann. They’ve been fortunate enough to meet some wonderful people doing something they truly love; it’s little wonder they’re so happy to perform!
What Sort of Music Do They Play?
Munchs’ repertoire is extensive and varied to suits all ages. They actively encourage audience participation and can even get the kids involved with tambourines and dance routines. There’s never an “us and them” situation with Munch – They pride themselves on making sure you enjoy yourselves as much as they do.
The song list extends from danceable 50s hits right through to current number one’s and indie classics. They also offer a DJ package that can accommodate all of your requests.
They can learn extra songs that aren’t on their song list for your event at a small extra fee and with at least four weeks advanced notice. If you don’t need a DJ they will provide background music between sets for free so there is no break in music, and you are more than welcome to bring CD’s, iPod’s ect for this if you’d like, that the band will play through their sound system.
What Will the Band Look Like?
Munch will be very well turned out and their appearance and attitude and they will always wear friendly smiles!
The four piece band can take up very little space and requires a minimum of 4x4 meters stage space.
Your Event
If you need the band to arrive early, why not put them to good use as an acoustic act that can entertain during the quieter parts of your day before the party kicks off in the evening? Or have the guys perform acoustically during the drinks reception?
Munch are completely flexible and are the only band you need for your entire event.
Munch will play 2 sets of 45 or 60 minutes, or 3 sets of 40 minutes with breaks where they will provide background music for no extra costs. CDs, iPods can be brought along and incorporated into the background music, or you can have the guys DJ whatever music you want and take requests on the night from you and your guests.
The band are more than happy for you to make suggestions as to what you definitely don't want to hear on the night - as for the rest of the set-list: leave it to the experts!
*Munch encourage audience participation! There’s always an extra guitar and microphone for any budding musicians in the audience who might want to show off their talents!*
And for when the band are not playing...
There is also the option of music between sets and a DJ package. Like many modern DJs Munch use a laptop computer containing a huge amount of popular songs. These songs are mixed as they would be using CD decks and a band member will control the laptop in between live performances make basic announcements and take requests from guests. The band’s lights and PA system double-up for use during DJ sets. If you have any specific requests for music that you would like the DJ to include please forward any lists to me well in advance so the band can obtain as many of your preferred tracks as possible should any be missing from their collection.
As we are sure you can appreciate the service offered ‘in house’ by the band is significantly less than the cost of a normal DJ so we cannot guarantee every possible request can be met.
